Article 6 - Water for Temporary Use

Section 1.

Contractors, builders and others will be required to obtain a written permit from the Water Works before using water for building and construction purposes or for temporary use of any kind.  Wherever possible, meters shall be used to measure this water.  In all other cases, the Water Works will require a deposit to cover the estimated charge for the water to be used, based on the unit quantities of work to be done, or other equitable basis.

Section 2.

Fire hydrants are designed for one purpose only - the protection of property from fire.  Use for any other purpose will jeopardize this primary use and may cause widespread discoloration and/or pressure fluctuations in the system.

In unusual circumstances, where a written permit is granted for the use of a fire hydrant in accordance with the terms of Fee Schedule G, a valve shall be installed on the nozzle cap so that the connection may be turned off independently and not interfere with the normal operation of the hydrant.  Permission for the use of fire hydrants will not be granted between December 1 and April 1.
